Lunch today for my little girl… This was an idea I found on Pinterest awhile ago. My daughter loves them and asks for them all the time!

I have not been blogging on here for very long, only about a week… But I am looking for blogs to follow, and more followers for my blog. I am going to write a lot about the recipes I find on Pinterest, and some others as well. I am trying to find healthier recipes, but its a slow process. I am a runner so will be writing about that too. I will also blog anything else I find funny or anything that interests me. 

I am going to start blogging about my running as well as all the pinterest recipes I find, once I am able to start running again. About a month ago I hurt my foot, and even though it got better it is not 100% yet. Last week I finally decided to go to the doctor… He gave me some anti-inflamatory meds and some pain meds. He told me not to run for a couple weeks and ice it. So thats what I’m doing. He asked why I didn’t come in sooner, and I almost didn’t want to tell him why… I had been training for my first marathon and didn’t want anything to keep me from running it! He did not think that was a good reason, lol. 

Like I said this was my first marathon, and it will be my last. I love to run, but I will be sticking to half marathons in the future. 

I have found a lot of recipes for homemade dog treats, and finally got around to actually making a batch. I decided on this recipe because it looked simple and I already had all the ingredients in my pantry. 

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Dog Treats: (From sharedsugar.com)

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup honey

1 T. olive oil

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup wheat flour 

1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour

1/4 cup wheat germ (optional-I didn’t add this)

Preheat oven to 350˚ Whisk together peanut butter, honey, oil and chicken broth. In separate bowl combine  flours and oats. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Place dough onto a counter dusted with flour and roll out to 1/2” or 1/4”. Use cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and place onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Gather up scraps and roll out again. Bake 14-16 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack.

The only thing I changed in this recipe was using all-purpose flour for both cups. We don’t use wheat flour so I didn’t have any in the house.

This recipe was a big success, the pups loved their special treats!! I will be making these treats again for them. Plus my daughter enjoyed helping so that made this recipe an even bigger success.

This was an absolute Pinterest fail! I was a little skeptical about it actually tasting like a Wendy’s frosty but it looked good and it wasn’t too unhealthy so I thought I’d give it a try… I blended 3/4 cup almond milk, 15 ice cubes, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, cocoa powder (I used a little less than what it called for since I was using dark chocolate) and 1/3 of a banana (even though the recipe said to use a frozen one this was spur of the moment and I didn’t have a frozen one… But that should not have changed the flavor. Anyways as you can tell from the picture it isn’t even close to looking the same. It was not good at all and I will not make it again. Took one bite and I was done… But I still made my husband taste test it and he agreed.

Just registered for this race with my mom, brother, and sister-in-law. Very excited for this race and very scared!!! Can’t wait!!! 

Chia Parfait… I found this recipe on Pinterest :) Even though mine doesn’t look as pretty as the one from healthycancerchick.com it was really good! Plus it was very filling!

Recipe: Mix 4-5 tablespoons of chia seeds with 1- 1 1/2 cups of almond milk (I used regular milk because that’s what I had in my fridge), 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix in the blueberries. Let sit in the fridge overnight and thicken up. Then in the morning layer with oats and walnuts (or any nut you choose). Top with bananas. The only things I would change is leaving out the oats and layering with bananas instead. I thought that the oats were just to dry to eat like that. My husband (aka my taste tester) agreed. I would make this again, it was very good and very healthy!
